WET STRENGTH PAPER REPULPING:LABORATORY EVALUATION
The recycling of wet strength papers in a normal recycling mill is often troublesome due to the severe operating conditions required to defibre wet strength papers. The various methods are presented which will quickly allow mills to determine the most effective pulping aids to use when repulping wet strength papers. The repulping of wet strength paper with inorganic chemicals was investigated in the laboratory. The effects of major variables, that is,repulping time, pulp consistency, soaking time,temperature, and reactant concentration in the repulping stage were examined using Plackett-Burman design. The repulping time was the most crucial & influential process variable affecting repulping characteristic and formation related properties. The more significant repulping process variables affecting pulp yield were repulping time,soaking temperature and pulp consistency whereas for formation index and feature size, repulping time,pulp consistency, soaking temperature and time were the more important variables. The formation index is increased by an increase in repulping time, pulp consistency and soaking time whereas the feature size is decreased by an increase in repulping time,soaking temperature and pulp consistency. The formation index and the rejects were more sensitive to changes in process variables than were the feature size or the pulp yield. The pulp recycled from wet strength waste paper had good physical strength properties....

Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater:a clinicopathologic evaluation
BACKGROUND:?Only 105 cases of neuroendocrine tumor (NET) of the ampulla of Vater have been described, mostly as single case reports. The incidence of NET is rising. The changes in incidence may result from changes in detection. This study was to determine the relative incidence and clinicopathological characteristics of high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma (small cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma) of the ampulla of Vater at a single institution.
METHODS:?Sections from parafifn blocks of tumors of the ampulla of Vater taken from 45 patients who underwent Whipple's procedure and 6 patients who underwent palliative bypass between September 2003 and January 2007 were subjected to immunohistochemical analysis. The clinical and pathological data from 5 patients diagnosed with NET of the ampulla of Vater were analyzed.
RESULTS:?The patients were 3 men and 2 women, ranging in age from 39 to 47 years (mean 44 years). Operative procedures included Whipple's procedure in 4 patients and palliative bypass in 1 patient. Histopathological examination revealed large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in 2 patients, small cell carcinoma in 2, and carcinoid in 1. Three patients with high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma who had undergone Whipple's procedure died at postoperatively 7, 11, and 13 months. The patient who had undergone palliative triple bypass died 3 months after surgery.
CONCLUSIONS:?The relative incidence of high-grade neuroendocrine carcinomas of the ampulla of Vater is higher than that generally expected. The tumors behave aggressively and have a dismal prognosis despite aggressive treatment....2023-04-03[]瀏覽：0下載：0

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF AN ANALYTICAL STUDY FOR CYLINDRICAL HELICAL SPRINGS
The free vibration analysis of cylindrical helical springs is carried out by means of an analytical study. In the governing equations of the motion of the springs, all displacement functions are defined at the centroid axis and also the effects of the rotational inertia, axial and shear deformations are included in the proposed model. Explicit analytical expressions which give the vibrating mode shapes are derived by rigorous application of the symbolic computing package MATHEMATICA and a process of searching is used to determine the exact natural frequencies.Numerical examples are provided for fixed-fixed boundary conditions. The free vibrational parameters are chosen as the number of coils (n = 4～14), the helix pitch angle (α = 5～30°)and as the ratio of the diameters of the cylinder and the wire (D/d = 4～18) in a wide range.Validation of the proposed model has been achieved through comparison with a finite element model using two-node standard beam elements and the results available in published literature,which in these cases indicates a very good correlation....

The Evaluation and Selection of Outsourcing Suppliers in Mass Customization (MC)

Design, implementation and evaluation of write-enabled CramFS

An Evaluation of the Investment for Child Development in China
Objective This study estimated the investment in child development from three aspects-public health,public education,and family investment to establish the level of investment,to provide reference information for government decision making and to provide international comparisons.Methods Public investment in health was measured with macro data related to public health spending and child development in government expenditure.Public education investment was based on basic education data.Family investment evaluation was based on per capita family consumer spending data in different age groups to estimate the input for child development.Results Both public health investment level and the proportion of GDP rose for all age groups over time,but the overall investment level was still insufficient.Public investment in children's education has increased year by year,but the trends in all age groups are unbalanced with much lower investment in early childhood education.Private investment in children has increased over the period,but has declined as a percentage of GDP.International comparisons show that China's investment in child development is much lower than OECD countries.Conclusion The private investment in child development was the main way in China,with public finance contributing only a small proportion.Given the poor international comparisons,the government needs to review the balance of public investment to redirect more towards the development of children under the age of six to their health and education....

EVALUATION OF SURGERY IN SIMPLE OVARIAN CYSTS
Objective. To evaluate the surgery in simple ovarian cysts.Methods. From Jan. 1994 to Dec. 1999, 221 women with simple ovarian cysts were admitted into ourhospital. The diameter of cysts was ＜5 cm in 76 cases, and was≥5 cm in 145 cases ultrasonically.One hundred and eighty-four patients underwent laparosocopy, and thirty-seven underwent laparotomy.Results. Histological findings showed no malignancy in this series. Simple cysts, paraovarian cystsand corpus luteum were found histologically in 90.8% of cases with cysts ＜5 cm, and 60% of those withcysts ＞7 cm respectively, their difference was significant (X2=-37.13, P＜0.001). The simple cysts, paraovar-ian cysts and corpus luteum cysts were found in 81.5% of postmenopausal women and 84.0% of pre-menopausal women. Conclusion. Patients with cysts ＞7 cm are indicated for surgical procedures, while a period of fol-lowup is acceptable for patients with cysts ＜7 cm, and surgery is advisable if the cyst is persistent dur-ing followup. Postmenopausal women with cysts should have operations....

Quantitative Evaluation for Drawability of Sheet Metal
The theoretical evaluating method is given for the drawability of the sheet with normal anisotropy. The general solution on the cracking load of deep-drawing is deduced, which is based on three kinds of hardening curve of materials most in use. The distributions of stress and strain in the deformed region and the drawing force are obtained by the numerical method. The limiting drawing ratio is calculated through computer-aided simulating test. The experiments of deep-drawing to four kinds of sheet metals express that the relative errors between the predictive and the experimental results about the cracking load and the limiting drawing ratio are within 5%. Lipid signal in evaluation of intracranial meningiomas
Background Using magnetic resonance imaging,diagnosis of malignant meningioma from benign meningioma with atypical features is uncertain.We evaluated the value of lipid signal in differentiating intracranial meningiomas.Methods 1H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) using a point resolved spectroscopy (TR/TE 1000/144 ms)sequences were performed on 34 patients on a 3.0 T scanner.Lipid peak located at 1.3 ppm was evaluated.MRS data from these tumours were compared with histopathological findings (including hematoxylin and eosin staining and KP-1 staining).Results Twenty-nine meningiomas were histologically benign (eleven meningothelial,thirteen fibrous,four transitional and one microcystic),three were atypical,and two were anaplastic.Lipid signal was detected in ten cases: two anaplastic,three atypical,two fibrous and three meningothelial meningiomas.All voxels with lipid peak in the spectrum from the tumour were evaluated.With creatinine peak in the normal white matter chosen as internal standard,lipid/creatinine ratios of anaplastic,atypical and benign meningiomas were 0.844±0.027 (range from 0.725 to 0.994),0.465±0.023 (range from 0.239 to 0.724),and 0.373±0.016 (range from 0.172 to 0.571) respectively.Highly significant differences were noted between anaplastic and the other two subtypes.Patchy necrosis was observed in anaplastic meningioma,while focal necrosis was noted in atypical meningioma with HE stain.However,no necrosis was found in benign group.KP-1 stain demonstrated histocytes containing lipids in the necrotic region of anaplastic and atypical meningioma.Conclusion The lipid signal at 1.3 ppm is a useful marker in evaluating the malignancy of intracranial meningiomas,especially in the differential diagnosis of anaplastic meningioma....
